Foton to launch own electric Midi

foton-midiFoton are best known for their truck making abilities, but they have recently turned their hand to automotive production, and their first car turned out to be a rather cute MPV named ‘Midi’

Foton are expected to produce an electric Midi using Li battery packs, which are able to be charged up from a home electrical system (giving it a lead over BYD in this area), on one charge the electric Midi is expected to be able to travel between 100 and 150km. It’s not entirely clear who Foton are working with to develop their battery technology. The price of the electric Midi is expected to be less than 100,000rmb, where as the regular gasoline Midi is priced from 40,000rmb to 60,000rmb.
